February started pretty normal. I had no classes in the BSC to teach, but I was taking two. The session is now finished and we already have plans for the next session. We finished those kitchen cabinets I mentioned last report (there are some pictures of them in the pictures section). As for school, Calculus is killing me, and I had to read Hamlet. If I could get my hands on Shakespeare! The English he wrote in cannot even be considered ENGLISH!!! Ayyyy!!! Such is the life of a senior :D
The next session of classes in the BSC are starting up soon. I'll be teaching two classes, "Major Religions of the World", and team-teaching the course "Jesus:Man of the Bible" with Ching and Vince, fellow teachers. This is my first experience (aside from the Teacher Training program) with teaching JMAN and I'm very excited about it! The course has three basic divisions; the first is about the Bible and Bible study, the second about Jesus and who he is, and the third about Jesus and the effect he has on our lives. It is the course which leads into "Jesus:Lord of our Lives", our main evangelistic course. We spent the afternoons of Wed-Fri (21-23) handing out fliers to various areas around the BSC advertising this session. Tiring, but when you find someone interested, it's worth it.
The fliers we've been handing out also advertise a seminar we're holding at the BSC this week (Feb. 27- Mar. 2). My grandfather, Ken Wilkey, has agreed to come and hold a seminar for us, and the topic is the book of James. We are looking forward to meeting all the students, and (of course) hearing what he has to say...
We have had a few get-togethers during the season of LOVE, or Valentine's Day as you may know it. One was at my sister's house, with some friends, and the other was a gathering of Christians who are all a part of a texting group we call the "COC Clan" (Church of Christ Clan). Some time back a group of Christians organized themselves to form a group in order to allow communication between Christians from all over the Nation. Because texting is much cheaper here, it is more popular. Only texters from Cebu joined the event, but we had a great time anyway :D.
A few days ago, we went to the travel agent to look at possible bookings for our furlough trip back to the US this coming June. As much as I am looking forward to this, I am dreading it. I have so much family and so many friends in the US, yet I have my extended family and my life here in Cebu. I am pretty much confused :D. I am also VERY attatched to my cellphone, and don't know how I'm going to live without it over there. "Torn between two places.... la la la la ..." :D hehe
Oh yeah! We had our graduation yesterday (February 24). We have two new possible members in the church, Bernadeth Vitualla and Virginia Kho. Please be praying for them, that they will have the courage to do what's right.
I cannot believe this month is already almost over. The time slips away from you. I can remember being 13 and just wishing that I was older, couldn't wait for all the responsibilities, people looking up to me, having important things to keep me occupied. Oh the folly of youth! I'm only seventeen, and yet i'm as fatigued as my parents are. Such is the life of a missionary, or a missionary in training :D.
I heard this recently and found it amusing, thought you might too:
"By all means marry! If you have a good wife, you are blessed. If you have a bad one, you will become a philosopher" - Socrates
God bless!
