Greetings one and all from the humid city of Cebu! As I write our neighbors behind our house are BLASTING music and having themselves a good ol' time. I feel like it's time to get out the cotton wool :/
I've just finished eating tacos with Amy after a long day at the BSC. I had a surprise this afternoon at about 1:45 when a couple of guys who were interested in classes dropped by and asked if we could have class! It was unexpected, but I've taught the course Major Religions of the World a few times and know how to improvise :). It was an interesting class. The men are both cousins; one is a Roman Catholic while the other is a Messianic Jew. I hope they will come back Monday and continue classes. We also had our weekly Youth Fellowship where we played group games like Ultimate Samurai, Fizz-Buzz, and Human Tic Tac Toe. I enjoyed myself :).
As for our normally scheduled classes, things are going well for us. We just finished week 3 of classes which puts us at our half-way point in Session 1. I've been teaching Greek and helping out here and there with other courses as is needed. Clint and I are working together with our 8 Greek students and I think we're (meaning Clint and I) having fun. The major difficulty we have is that both Clint and I want to teach all the time!!! I love the Greek language and am so blessed to be able to help others learn it.
I've also been teaching our course Old Testament Survey - 1 for Ronaldo Puzon, a brother of ours here who also helps teach at the BSC. He has been busy and unable to keep up with the schedule the past two weeks, so I have been taking his place. His student, Joseph, is quite fun to have in class! We have talked about Cain and Abel, Noah and the Ark, the Tower of Babel, and Abraham. It's so amazing to see the history of how God dealt with man in the beginning. Joseph has also been taking several other courses with us and I pray he will continue in his studies. Please keep him and all our other students in your prayers.
We have our weekly Children's Bible Class tomorrow morning and will be talking about the story of Job and his patience and endurance. We talked about Jonah and his response to the Lord's forgiving the people of Ninevah for their sins. We have been going systematically through the stories of the Old Testament (not exactly in chronological order since I bungled that up last year when I missed Jonah before the end of the kings). We've been trying to show them the stories in which we can see the results of obedience and disobedience to what God says. I hope they are retaining some of it :).
As far as family goes, Amy has still been in a lot of pain from her back and has trouble sleeping because of it. In addition to that she caught some sort of flu a couple weeks ago and was home consistently because of it. She seems better and I hope that it is gone. Thankfully, I haven't caught the bug floating around. I hope and pray that continues to be the case. The Robinsteins are doing well. Rachael has been having trouble sleeping too. The kiddos are full of energy and really are special. Jon and his family are well. They have all gotten better from the flu they had in their house. I got to hold Jasmin today and enjoyed it thoroughly :). Mom and Dad are doing well, too. Still busy with their business and working hard. They are also still going to the gym to keep fit and I admire them very much for it. RJ has been busy making recordings and working on his Cebuano studies. He's learned a lot, too!
As for me, I'm doing pretty great. Life is good and the Lord has blessed me immensely. What more could a girl ask for? :) I hope and pray you all are doing well!
In him,
Sara Murrell
