Apprentices, seminar, and open house...
Howdy All!
A lot has happened within the last few days! We have just finished enrollment week and have many new prospective students.
Clint taught a
seminar for us
July 18-20 on the topic of the book of
Judges. He took us all through the stories of Samson, Jephthah, Deborah, and all the other judges. It's such an interesting read! God used these men (and women) during the gap of time between the time of Joshua and the lives of the kings to lead the Israelites in obedience to him. The interesting thing I've always noticed is that, though, that the Israelites were not obedient if they did not have a good leader. I can't figure out why, though they had plenty of opportunity to be. They were even disobedient when Moses, who was known as a friend of God, was leading them! Amy always comments that, though we always speak of their disobedience, they probably would say the same thing about us down here!
Obedience to God, though possible, is not always easy.
Saturday afternoon we held an
Open House to attract students. Amy prepared materials for the classrooms including course trivia, course information, and even information about our Children's class program. We offered free shirts and Bibles to attendees and people who enrolled and had quite a crowd show up! We also had a lot of help from our brethren here in Cebu, which was such a blessing.
Today we had a few members who haven't been around join us, including
Conchita Serojihos, with her granddaughter Johanna, and April who helps her around the house (both of whom are not Christians). Another face we haven't seen in a while is
Adela Cabugwason, who takes care of her elderly aunt who is VERY Catholic. She comes whenever she can, and it was so encouraging to see her today. Please keep both Conchita and Adela and their struggles in your prayers.
Tomorrow
Session 6 starts up and we are excited! We have many new faces who we hope will show up, and I am looking forward to the opportunities with these souls that the Lord has thrown our way. Thank you for your continued support! We couldn't be here without you.
