At the beginning of March, we started a new session of classes at the BSC. There was a great turnout for students because of a seminar my grandfather, Ken Wilkey, held for us through March on the book of James. In preperation for the seminar, we had gone around the area doorknocking and personally inviting the neighbors to the seminar. We had a great group, and my grandfather had a great time teaching. Because of this event, we were able to encourage many people to enroll in classes in the center and so we have been busy.
Since the seminar, I've had many things going on. I am assisting to tutor the students in the class at the BSC on Biblical Greek. We meet together every Monday and Thursday for about one hour to discuss the material and for them to ask for assistance if they need it or clarification. Just watching them and hearing their difficulties reminds me of when I was a student. That seems like ages ago. I don't miss lugging around all the books which they have, though. Hehe, they were heavy, and I never could find a big enough bag for them.
I taught two classes this session. I mentioned them both in my February letter. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I team-taught the course Jesus:Man of the Bible and I taught the course Major Religions of the World I. It was my first time to teach both of these classes, and I was very excited. There have been struggles, and I have made some mistakes, but it's a learning experience. Just have to remember what Paul said - "Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." (Phil. 3:13)
This past week (April 10-14) we have been holding a VBS for children at the BSC in the mornings. In order to prepare for this, we went out Monday door to door inviting personally the parents to send their children. Our main purpose for the event is to attract the parents to another seminar we are having (in which my grandfather will also be the speaker) next week, April 17-20. We were shocked by the response, but pleasantly surprised. The first day we had 48 children, the second we had 50, and this morning we had 61. Needless to say, we are VERY crowded in the office right now. Lots of little kids everywhere. It is exhausting, but definetely worth it.
Lots of stuff has transpired, but I want to cut this short. Thanks for keeping your interest in the work over here in the good ol' PI. :D God Bless and take care!
In him...
